Gilas Women edge Thailand, 73–70, to retain SEA Games gold and cement their dominance in Southeast Asian basketball.
Bangkok, Thailand — The Gilas Pilipinas Women once again proved their supremacy in Southeast Asian basketball, successfully defending their SEA Games title with a hard-earned 73–70 victory over host Thailand at a packed Nimibutr Stadium.
Playing in front of a loud and partisan home crowd, the Filipinas displayed composure, resilience, and championship grit—answering every Thai surge with timely baskets and disciplined defense. The tightly contested final went down to the wire, with Gilas holding firm in the closing moments to secure one of the Philippines’ most crucial wins of the day.
Veteran leader Efril Bernadino anchored the team with a game-high 19 points, providing stability and scoring punch when it mattered most. Quincy Kacey Dela Rosa delivered vital support with 17 points, including key baskets that helped maintain control during critical stretches.
The triumph marks the third SEA Games gold medal for Philippine women’s basketball, following historic championships in 2019 and 2021, and further cements the program’s rise as a regional powerhouse.
With momentum firmly on their side, the Filipinas once again showed that heart, discipline, and belief remain the cornerstones of Gilas Pilipinas’ winning tradition.
