Eumir Felix Marcial clinches the Philippines’ lone boxing gold at the 2025 SEA Games, prevailing via split decision in the men’s -80kg final.
Bangkok, Thailand — Two-time Olympian Eumir Felix Marcial delivered when it mattered most, clinching the Philippines’ lone boxing gold medal with a hard-fought split decision victory in the Men’s -80kg Light Heavyweight final at the 2025 SEA Games.
Facing the taller and confident Maikhel Roberrd Muskita, Marcial showcased ring intelligence and grit in a tightly contested bout. He edged the opening round, 3–2, before Muskita used his reach advantage to claim the second. Entering the final round showing signs of fatigue, Marcial dug deep and found a decisive second wind, unleashing a flurry of well-timed punches that disrupted his opponent’s rhythm and swayed the judges in his favor.
The victory marks Marcial’s fifth SEA Games gold medal, adding to his illustrious résumé that includes titles in the Welterweight division (2015) and Light Middleweight (2017, 2019, and 2021). His latest triumph further cements his status as one of the most decorated Filipino boxers in SEA Games history.
Marcial’s gold proved to be the lone bright spot for the national boxing team, following silver-medal finishes by Aira Villegas, Jay Bryan Baricuatro, and Flint Jara, who all fell to Thai opponents earlier in the day.
In the face of adversity, Marcial once again carried the flag with pride — a powerful reminder of Filipino resilience, heart, and championship spirit.
