UAE Recalls Nestlé Infant Formula Over Safety Alert
UAE recalls select Nestlé infant formula products in precautionary safety move after potential contamination discovery, no illnesses reported.
The UAE has issued a precautionary recall of selected Nestlé infant formula products following the identification of a potential safety concern. The move was coordinated by the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) in collaboration with Nestlé as part of continuous efforts to monitor food quality and ensure infant health and consumer safety across the country.
The recall affects specific infant formula ranges, including NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2 and 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2 and 3, and Alfamino. These products are being withdrawn after a production ingredient was found to potentially contain traces of Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that can produce a toxin known as cereulide.
Authorities emphasized that the recall is purely precautionary, confirming that no cases of illness or negative health effects have been linked to the impacted batches. Nestlé products not included in the recall remain safe and available for consumers.
According to the EDE, all affected batches have been isolated and secured in warehouses, while coordinated efforts continue to remove any remaining stock from physical stores and online platforms, ensuring full adherence to regulatory standards.
This action underscores the UAE’s strict food safety regulations and the ongoing collaboration between regulators and manufacturers to uphold high-quality standards, safeguard public health, and maintain confidence in infant nutrition products.
