Dubai has launched an innovative pilot project that uses AI-powered cameras installed on waste collection vehicles to detect littering and illegal dumping in real time. This new system is part of the Smart Waste Management framework, aiming to enhance cleanliness and environmental responsibility across the city.

The cameras capture images as vehicles move through neighborhoods, with AI algorithms instantly analysing the footage to identify violations. Detected littering or dumping incidents are immediately displayed on digital dashboards accessible by field teams, enabling swift response and enforcement actions.

Offenders caught by the system face fines reaching up to Dh500, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to maintaining public cleanliness and deterring improper waste disposal.

By integrating advanced AI technology into waste management operations, Dubai sets a new standard for smart city innovation and environmental protection.
