The Eternity C had previously been targeted by a specialized Yemeni naval unit, which used drones and explosive-laden boats to strike the vessel. The attack resulted in severe damage and ultimately led to the ship’s sinking.

Following their release, Philippine Ambassador to Oman Raul Hernandez thanked His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said and the Government of Oman for their invaluable and humanitarian assistance in securing the crew members’ freedom.

Meanwhile, the nine Filipino seafarers are now at Muscat International Airport, accompanied by Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, who is overseeing their safe return to the Philippines.

The release underscores the importance of regional diplomacy in protecting the welfare of seafarers caught in conflict zones. Thanks to Oman’s mediation, the affected crew members can now safely return to their families, bringing closure to a tense episode that drew international concern.
