“QR Coin” Launched to Mark PH as ASEAN 2026 Chair
26 December, 2025
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has launched a special ₱10 QR coin to commemorate the Philippines’ role as ASEAN Chair in 2026, combining legal tender with digital innovation.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has unveiled a commemorative ₱10 coin to mark the Philippines’ upcoming role as Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026.
Dubbed the “QR Coin,” the special-edition currency features a scannable QR code that directs users to the official BSP website, where the public can access information and updates related to ASEAN 2026.
Despite its unique and innovative design, the ₱10 QR coin remains legal tender and may be used for everyday transactions alongside regular circulating coins.
The initiative highlights the BSP’s commitment to innovation in Philippine currency, while also promoting public awareness of the country’s leadership role within the ASEAN region.
By integrating digital technology into physical currency, the QR coin serves not only as a commemorative item but also as a symbol of the Philippines’ forward-looking approach as it prepares to take on the ASEAN chairmanship in 2026.
