The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), speaking on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., extended its deepest sympathies to the families of those who perished or were severely affected by the incident. The tragic fire, which struck a residential building in Tai Po, left the community in shock and prompted an urgent need for coordinated emergency assistance.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac praised the Hong Kong government—especially the Labour and Welfare Department, led by Minister Chris Sun—for its immediate support to Filipino nationals.

According to the DMW, Hong Kong officials provided vital assistance such as:

  • Tracing and verifying the safety and whereabouts of Filipino workers

  • Offering emergency welfare support and access to temporary shelters

  • Setting up inquiry counters and community centers for affected families

  • Assisting OFWs who lost important documents during the fire

  • Coordinating with Philippine officials to monitor and update the status of Filipino workers

Secretary Cacdac emphasized that the DMW deeply appreciates Hong Kong’s active collaboration and humanitarian approach during the crisis. He also assured the Filipino community that the Philippine government will continue to monitor the situation and provide all necessary support to those affected.

The department encouraged Filipinos in Hong Kong to stay connected through official DMW channels for updates and assistance.
