President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed overseas Filipino workers and their families to Malacañang for the annual “Tara sa Palasyo” Christmas celebration, honoring OFWs’ contributions to the nation.
MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. warmly welcomed around 400 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families during the fourth day of the annual “Tara sa Palasyo” Christmas program held on December 19, 2025, at the Malacañang Palace grounds.
The festive gathering forms part of a broader series of holiday celebrations opened to the public, aimed at honoring Filipino families and recognizing the vital contributions of OFWs to the country’s development and economy.
Joining the President were Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, labor attachés, and officers and employees of both agencies—highlighting the government’s continued commitment to supporting and empowering migrant workers.
“Tara sa Palasyo,” which translates to “Let’s Go to the Palace,” has become a meaningful Christmas tradition under the Marcos administration, opening the historic Malacañang grounds to Filipinos through activities celebrating holiday spirit, culture, and family togetherness. President Marcos took time to mingle with attendees and expressed gratitude to OFWs, describing them as modern-day heroes whose sacrifices strengthen Filipino families and drive national progress.
Held at the Kalayaan Grounds, the celebration featured live performances by the top three winners of the OWWA Duets Singing Competition 2025. A screening of the classic Filipino film Anak—a story centered on family and the emotional struggles of OFWs—added a reflective and poignant moment to the program.
The event also offered carnival rides, traditional Filipino Christmas food stalls, and festive holiday lights, creating a welcoming space for children and families to bond while embracing Filipino Christmas traditions.
Now in its fourth year, “Tara sa Palasyo” continues to grow as a signature holiday initiative, opening the seat of government to the public while celebrating resilience, service, and community during the Christmas season.
