President Marcos appoints ex-PNP chief Nicolas Torre III as MMDA general manager, replacing Procopio Lipana.
MANILA (UPDATED) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III as the new general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Malacañang confirmed on Friday.
Torre succeeds Procopio Lipana, who previously held the post, the Palace added.
Earlier this year, Torre was relieved of his duties as PNP chief following reported disagreements with the National Police Commission, a development acknowledged by President Marcos.
With this appointment, Torre now assumes leadership of the agency responsible for traffic management, urban planning coordination, and disaster preparedness across Metro Manila, marking a new chapter in the MMDA’s operations.
