Dubai authorities have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations at Burj Khalifa, with phased road closures set to begin at 4PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged residents and visitors to plan their journeys early and consider alternative transport options, as all major roads leading to the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai precinct will be progressively closed throughout the evening to ensure public safety and smooth crowd movement.

Phased Road Closures from 4PM

The first phase of closures will begin at 4PM, affecting key roads around Downtown Dubai, including:

  • Al Asayel Street

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard

  • Burj Khalifa Street

  • Lower Financial Centre Street

  • Al Mustaqbal Street (between Financial Centre intersection and Commercial Centre Street)

Authorities said the staggered closures are designed to safely redirect traffic away from the celebration zone and manage the growing influx of visitors.

Additional Evening Closures

As crowds continue to build, further restrictions will be enforced:

  • 8PM: Closure of Al Sukook Street

  • 9PM: Closure of Upper Financial Centre Street

  • 11PM: Gradual closure of Sheikh Zayed Road between Al Maidaan intersection and Commercial Centre roundabout

The late-night shutdown of Sheikh Zayed Road marks a critical phase of the NYE traffic operation, with motorists strongly advised to avoid the area entirely.

Burj Khalifa Celebrations and Viewing Options

Tens of thousands of spectators are expected to gather across Downtown Dubai to witness the iconic Burj Khalifa fireworks and multimedia spectacle.

At Burj Park, tickets for a specially curated New Year’s Eve experience—featuring immersive light and laser shows alongside live performances—are nearly sold out. Priced at Dh997.50 per person, the event opens at 12PM, with ticket holders required to collect access badges by December 30.

Meanwhile, several Dubai Mall restaurants are offering premium dining packages with direct views of the fireworks. Prices for exclusive seating reportedly reach up to Dh12,000 per person, while other venues will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those opting for free viewing, authorities have designated public, family-friendly viewing areas across Downtown Dubai. These zones will operate on a first-come basis and will feature LED screens to ensure clear visibility of the celebrations.

Residents and visitors are once again encouraged to use public transport, follow official advisories, and allow ample travel time as Dubai prepares to welcome the New Year with one of its largest and most anticipated celebrations.
