The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reaffirmed its commitment to stronger regional coordination against human trafficking during the second day of the Bali Process Working Group and Technical Experts Group study visit held on 3 December 2025.

DMW Undersecretary Bernard P. Olalia emphasized that long-term reintegration, safe migration pathways, and effective referral systems rely on robust and sustained cross-country collaboration.

Delegates received a comprehensive briefing from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) on the Philippines’ continued Tier 1 ranking, followed by tours of key DMW service centers supporting migrant welfare and reintegration.

The group also visited facilities that demonstrate the country’s multi-agency, trauma-informed response to trafficking cases, including UP Manila–PGH, NAIA Terminal 3, the newly repurposed Nasdake Building, and Philippine Coast Guard vessels.

Experts at UP Manila–PGH highlighted the role of Women and Children Protection Units (WCPUs) in providing holistic, stigma-free care for survivors.

The study visit forms part of a weeklong series of Bali Process engagements focused on enhancing regional collaboration in trafficking prevention, safe migration, returns, and reintegration efforts.
