The Philippine Government expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, which occurred on 14 December 2025 during a public Hanukkah celebration and left at least 15 people dead and many others injured.

Australian authorities have described the attack as a deliberate act of violence linked to extremist ideology. The alleged perpetrators were identified as Sajid Akram, 50, who was shot dead by police at the scene, and his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, who was critically injured and taken into custody.

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration confirmed that both suspects entered the Philippines on 1 November 2025 from Sydney and departed on 28 November 2025, listing Davao as their destination. Authorities stressed that their entry and departure complied with standard immigration procedures and that no evidence has emerged indicating criminal or extremist activity during their stay.

Philippine officials said they are cooperating closely with Australian counterparts as part of ongoing international investigations, noting that the review of travel history is a routine element of multinational law enforcement coordination.

The government also confirmed that no Filipino nationals were among the fatalities or injured in the attack. The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney continues to monitor developments and remains prepared to assist any Filipinos affected.

Victims publicly identified by authorities and international media include Rabbi Eli Schlanger, Peter Meagher, 10-year-old Matilda, Alex Kleytman, an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor, Dan Elkayam, Reuven Morrison, Rabbi Yaakov Levitan, and Tibor Weitzen, who reportedly died shielding his wife.

The Philippine Government reiterated its commitment to global cooperation against terrorism and transnational crime, pledging to share verified information as investigations progress.
